In 2017 Adrian started staining fences for a local fence and deck builder in the Greenville-Spartanburg area. Word of mouth kept the work coming. When that company closed, he launched Superior Stain Solutions in 2022. He still runs it from Duncan. Preston Jones manages projects and has been in the trades since 2006.

Who we are

Local out of Duncan. Two counties. One standard.

Superior Stain Solutions is a local outfit based in Duncan, SC. Fence and deck staining across Greenville County and Spartanburg County is the work. Painting is handled by our painting company, Superior Paint Solutions.

We care about how the job holds up, not just how it looks the day we leave. That means prep before color, a moisture meter before oil stain, and one flat price in writing before we start. The values are simple: honesty, reliability, integrity, quality. In practice it means we would rather tell you the wood needs another week to dry than stain it wet and see you again in two summers.

Staining in the Upstate since 2017. Opened Superior Stain Solutions LLC in Duncan in January 2022.

For me it started in 2017. A local fence and deck builder in the Greenville-Spartanburg area hired me to stain their jobs. I jumped on it. Word got around Duncan, and I built a solid rep for clean work.

A couple of years later the owner moved away and closed the shop. I was out of work. That's when I figured, why not start my own thing? Superior Stain Solutions opened in 2022, still run out of Duncan.

At the core of what we do: honesty, reliability, and integrity. I did not start this just to offer staining. I started it to know the customers and make the job easy on them.

In the trades since 2006. Runs projects and keeps customers in the loop.

I started in the trades back in 2006, helping my father when he got really busy. After a few years had gone by, I had improved drastically on my brushwork and staining. I also learned the basics of home improvement from basements to roofs and everything in between.

Fast forward to 2020, I wasn't sure what to do for work after the shutdown, so I reached out to some colleagues and was hired to install fire suppression systems. With the knowledge and confidence gained there, I left and joined a remodel crew and did a bit of everything they needed. I continued that until Hurricane Helene devastated the Upstate, at which time I decided to move down to help my uncle with his fence company in Spartanburg, SC.

Through helping him with fence installation, I met Adrian, who was interested in splitting the management tasks to improve customer service. Now my main focus is helping clients at Superior Stain Solutions, but also helping with small renovations and projects when I can.

Professional work, exceptional people, and fantastic customer service! They took a 4 yr fence that had mold and mildew in many areas and cleaned it first, then stained it a few days later. It came out lovely and we get so many compliments from neighbors!!

How we work

We look before we quote

Fences get measured, decks get walked, and the wood gets a moisture meter on it. Oil stain wants wood under 13%. If it is not ready, we say so.

Flat rate, in writing

One all-inclusive price before we start. No hourly, no surprise add-ons, no "we found more work" upcharge.

Penetrating oil, not film

We use Expert Stain and Seal and Sherwin-Williams stains. Penetrating oil soaks in and weathers slowly instead of peeling. Re-stain every 2 to 6 years depending on opacity and sun.

We stand behind it

12-month workmanship warranty. Up to 3 years from the stain maker when you register it. Tell us about a missed spot within 7 days of completion and we fix it at no charge.

How do I get an online estimate?

Send the estimate form or call 864-800-8275. Tell us length, height, wood condition, and the look you want. We include a wash when the fence is aged or greyed. Tell us if the job site has no power or water. That can change how we quote it. The written quote is the price.

What services do you provide?

Fence staining, deck staining and sealing, fence and deck restoration, pergola and porch staining, pre-staining for new construction, and commercial and HOA staining. We serve Greenville County and Spartanburg County.

How long should I wait to stain a new fence or deck?

There is no calendar wait. We check moisture at the estimate. Oil-based stain wants wood under 13%. Waiting a year "to dry" is how boards grey, cup, and crack.

How often should I stain my fence or deck?

Usually every 2 to 6 years depending on the stain, its opacity, the sun, and whether anyone maintains it. Around Greenville, Spartanburg, Greer, and Duncan we often see 3 to 4 years on fences. Decks can need attention sooner.

What does payment look like?

At least one week before the project date we collect a non-refundable materials deposit. The remaining balance is charged when the project is complete and you are satisfied. We take debit, credit, cash, check, Zelle, CashApp, PayPal, wire, and certain cryptocurrencies. Financing through Wisetack is available for eligible customers.*

Do you work with commercial clients?

Yes. We have stained over 5,000 linear feet of fence for HOAs, developers, and commercial clients, including work for Ryan Homes, Indigo Pointe, and Reidville Town Center.

Do you stain fences and decks in Spartanburg, Greenville, Duncan, Greer, and Reidville?

Yes. Those towns are regular work, not special trips. We work across Greenville County and Spartanburg County: Greenville, Spartanburg, Greer, Duncan, Simpsonville, Mauldin, Five Forks, Reidville, Lyman, Inman, Boiling Springs, and the other towns in those counties.
